So the recently “Glee” aired an episode where a character referenced Delta Zeta, but instead of saying Delta Zeta or DZ, they said Easy DZ. This is something I have heard before, it didn’t surprise me (clearly easy and DZ rhyme… super clever ::rolls eyes::), but it did get me thinking. I think that being part of a values based organization is amazing, and it was one of the best experiences of my life, but how often do we really share that with everyone else. We share it with our brothers or sisters, we maybe tell a friend or 2, but do we ever shout it from the roof tops. I know that Delta Zeta was a formative experience in my life, but have I really spent time telling others why, and who I am because of it?
Joining Delta Zeta was a life changing experience for me. Where would I be without the women who helped me to grow, taught me what true womanhood was, and gave me something to believe in. I spent 4 years surrounded by some of the most magnificent women I have ever known. They were silly, smart, creative, beautiful, nerdy, empathetic, and perfectly imperfect. My big taught me how to laugh at everything in life, she was so smart and yet the sweetest person I have ever known, everyone who met her loved her. She still is someone I can call anytime I need anything. She has her own little one now and I know he is the luckiest little man in the world to have a mommy that is so wonderful. My little’s couldn’t be more different from each other, but they created this beautiful dynamic interesting family. I have never laughed as hard and as much as I did with them. My first little has always empowered me to be a strong and courageous woman, and my second little taught me that it is okay to laugh, a lot, all the time, no matter what. My sisters were amamzing, but they are not the only reason I adore Delta Zeta so much.
I love what my organization stands for. I love that we stand for service through leadership. I love our creed encourages us to “crusade for justice and seek the truth”, I love that the values that my organization stands for, align perfectly with what I personally stand for. I believe so much in the power of my organization that I choose to give back as an alumna. I wanted to give my time and love to young Delta Zeta’s and help create a positive change. My experience with delta Zeta extends far beyond my 4 years as a collegiate. I learn more each day about why I love my orginization. My Theta chapter Delta Zeta’s teach me things all the time, and inspire me to keep living my values daily. They are an extraordinary group of young ladies and they make me proud. I am feel blessed to have had this organization as a part of my life.
